Halloween – A LOOK BACK

Being an October baby, Halloween excitement is something that is in Iris’ blood. With her first costume at just two weeks old, she’s had her fair share of dress-up fun. In anticipation of this year’s trick-or-treating, here’s a look back at everything Iris has been over the years.

2011
Banana!

2012
Kitty cat!

2013
Foofa!

Bunny!

2014
Ballerina zombie!

Mini Tom Petty!

2015

Mini Ryan Adams!

Mini Iris Apfel!

And last year, someone even dressed up as IRIS!

2016

This year Iris needed no assistance in choosing her own costume. It’s something that she completely made up, so hopefully I can make her Halloween dreams come true. We have her school fall carnival on Sunday, so watch for it on my Instagram this weekend!

Backyard Memories

Every once in a while I ask Todd to take my picture with Iris. While I don’t love being in front of the camera as much as I love being behind it, I’m always happy that I took my turn. For as many photos that I take, it’s rare that I’m actually in any of them. I think that’s true for a lot of moms. Some of my most cherished childhood photos are with my parents, so I try to hop in Iris’ photographs of future memories when I can. So here we are, just the two of us, hanging in our backyard this past weekend wearing some of our favorite summer wardrobe pieces we that we keep wearing over and over.

Rocksbox Review

So I was recently invited to try out Rocksbox for a few months as an #RBitgirl. For $19 a month subscribers receive a rotating collection of bracelets, necklaces, & earrings (think: Netflix for jewelry). First, you scroll through various pieces of jewelry online, rating them so that the items you receive are tailored to your personal style. A few days later, you receive a cute little package with all your new jewels, info about each piece, and a prepaid return label. Three items are included in each box and you can wear them for as long as you want OR return them as frequently as you want for a fresh batch. You also have the option to purchase any piece at a discount Rocksbox rate. Since I’m not a huge jewelry shopper, but love wearing it if convenient and affordable, I was initially intrigued by the concept. Now after a receiving, returning, and purchasing several items I have to say that I’m kind of in love. One of my most favorite features is that just a couple hours after popping my return in the mailbox, I get an email from Rocksbox that they see I’m returning my set. That means that they are already working on creating my next box the same day I ship my old one back, so the days in between sending and receiving my jewelry are minimal. Weird about wearing jewelry someone else has worn? Don’t be. They sanitize everything and every piece I’ve received looks shiny and brand new.
