Chihuly at Crystal Bridges

We were recently invited to explore the Chihuly exhibit at Crystal Bridges right before it opened to the public. The pieces inside were beautifully and thoughtfully arranged (the light was perfection) and the walk through the outdoor exhibit was an event all in itself. The grounds of Crystal Bridges have always been my most favorite part to explore, but now with blown glass sprinkled in, it’s even more magical.

Thanks to our little partnership with Crystal Bridges, we were treated to ah-mazing bites from the Eleven tasting menu and tasty drinks from the bar. Yes, this museum has the loveliest restaurant, with a full drink menu. After that we got a guided tour, then we were left to wander at our own pace. We went on a Friday night and had the sweetest little dinner (with wine!) from a food-truck situated in the back of the forrest. Did I mention it was magical?

If you’ve never been to the museum, it’s worth the trip no matter where you live and what better time than when Chihuly is in the house (and forest)? “Chihuly: In the Gallery” is open until August 14, while “Chihuly: In the Forest” is open a bit later until November 13. I wasn’t sure about taking Iris to this event. Five-year-olds and delicate glass typically aren’t the best combo, but I realized after I arrived how perfect it would be for her to explore, so we will absolutely be going back verrrry soon.

Come See Me Speak at PRSA NWA!

Well, isn’t this cool? I’ve been asked to speak at the Public Relations Society of America – Northwest Arkansas chapter (PRSA NWA) meeting this month. As a former public relations student at the University of Arkansas, I admit it is kind of awesome to see things come full circle and be invited to share my experience in the social media world. You don’t have to be a member to attend, but either way – there’s lunch, so I consider that a win no matter how good of a job I actually do. Find out more and buy a ticket here!

LOCAL LOVE: Portaits by Andrew Kilgore

So this past Christmas we treated ourselves to a session with THE Andrew Kilgore. If you are local, you are probably familiar with his name. He’s been around Fayetteville, shooting the city and its residents since at least the 70s. There’s even a documentary about him, in which President Clinton is interviewed talking about his talent. All of that aside, I’m just happy that we pulled the trigger and sat in his studio one cold night this past December. To have these images.. I mean. Just invaluable. It was terribly difficult to choose my favorites, but here are just a few. Most of these haven’t even been edited (even more of his magic comes from the prints he does himself).

LOCAL LOVE: The #MaudeWall

Okay, Fayettteville… Have you seen this wall yet?! Maude Boutique recently painted the entire wall behind their shop on College Avenue and it is magical! Iris and I were invited to take a few photos with the talented Jo Johnson, so of course we hopped right into the rainbow.

Anyone is welcome to stop by and take photos (it’s seriously an Instagramer’s dream), but if you’re in town this weekend, Maude is having a wall kick off event on Saturday, August 13. It’s free, but you’ll also have the opportunity to snag a mini-photo session with Jo Johnson Photography and all proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
