Record Breakers

When I was little
I use to fall asleep
flipping through
the 1987 version of the
Guinness Book of World Records.

Many of the records were awesome.
Others were ridiculous.
Oh, and some were just gross.
I was mesmerized by it all.

So when there was a chance to help out
in breaking a world record here in Fayetteville,
I had to be there.

The brave citizens of my town
were attempting to break the record
for world’s largest swim lesson
at the city pool in Wilson Park.

World Record Breakers

And with 262 people,
we did it!

I was a little apprehensive
of being in the pool with that many people
(that much pee).
Especially when part of the lesson
was to blow bubbles under water.

World Record Breakers

But as two of the oldest participants,
Brandy and I did our part.

World Record Breakers

Now, we are a part of
(random) history.

Just call us heros, badasses, whatever.

Town Yarnage

Last week a gaggle of yarn bandits
were on the loose in Fayetteville.

The sneaky knitters managed to
yarn-bomb the town square,
sewing warm colors
around cold city fixtures.

In the sad case that
the city took it down,
A note was left
on a light poll
asking to please
donate the creations
to the animal shelter.
For doggie beds.

Can’t get any cuter than that, folks.

My amazing hairstylist
was the mastermind behind
bringing this phenomenon to town.

Lazy Lake Saturday

It’s just the first weekend of June
and this is already the summer of
water, sun & fun.

After a night of photos
and last call at the bar,
a few of us headed to the lake.
Just a short hour away.

I get so use to the day-to-day
that sometimes I forget how
pretty Arkansas really is.

Bluffs, rocks, mountains
and water that was surprisingly warm.

We found a homemade fishing poll.
I used a lime as bate.
And lost the hook.

Now it’s Sunday, which is typically my
lazy at home day.
I spent the afternoon under the sun
listening to Dr. Dog in my kiddie pool.
But while lounging in my shark-pool-for-one,
Todd surprised me with this

pool

A little trashy?
Why, yes.
Do I love it?
Why, hell yes.

So now you can expect
about 1,000 more summer photos
and for me to have a
crazy awesome tan.

The Miracle Photobooth

This past week there
may or may not
have been a large event taking place in Fayetteville.
This event
may or may not
have been for the world’s largest employer.

Mariah Carey,
Jamie Foxx,
and Enrique Iglesias
may or may not
have been just a few of the guests in town.
And us girls
may or may not
have gone out on Friday night
in hopes of spotting a celeb or two.

Instead, we found something even better.
We met two guys who
may or may not
have been in town working the event
photobooth in tow.

Their company
may or may not
have worked other events such as
the New Moon premier

PB1

A party with the cast of Glee.

PB3

And maybe even a CW show or two.

PB4

The evening started off
completely normal.

Happy hour.
Two dollar beers.

24 hours

Cute patio.
Sitting outside.

24 hours

24 hours

Then things got
amazingly fun.
If you know me,
you know how much I love photos.
Of anything and everything.
And photobooths?
Well, they have my heart.

And on Friday night,
we had access to
Free. Unlimited. Photobooth pictures.
We took hundreds, but below are some of my faves.
Complete Flickr set is here.

North to Weston

This weekend was full of more than just
girls in bikinis
in my backyard.

Sunday, I threw my swimsuit
to the side and headed north with Todd.
We met up with a pair of friends
in Kansas City.
Then kept driving
out to the country.

We met up with even
more friends.
Enjoyed the afternoon
in the funny, but quaint
little town of
Weston, Missouri.

Eggs Benedict brunch.
Tasting of apple & blueberry wines.
Irish bar inside of a cave.
Can we do it all again?

That evening we watched our friends
get married by a barn
just outside of town.
So pretty.
So sweet.
