we kissed our lafayette house goodbye and said hello to our new one. thanks to our wonderful friends our insane amount of furniture and boxes are all moved. slowly but surely we’re becoming more organized, but it will be a while before everything is set up to where it feels like our home. we’re about at the point where we need to start painting before we can really put things where they’re suppose to be. i’m thinking a green tea color for my room, but we’ll see.

school starts back in less than a week. with the summer off, i’m actually getting kind of excited to go back. i finally get to take a couple more journalism courses this semester. however i’m signed up for 6 classes in all and i just hope i can handle it.

recently i started liking my job a whole lot more. i asked for a dollar more per hour and got it. score!

there’s a good chance that i’ll be spending thanksgiving in NYC this year. i spent christmas there this past year and am aching to go back. my fingers are crossed..

ok. off to organize..

won’t last through the fall

We returned from Texas last night after a ridiculous 9 hour drive. The trip consisted of a day at the Galveston beach, a 100 degree afternoon at Six Flags, eating loads of food, lots of reading, and a trip to one of my favorite stores in the world.

As soon as we got home, we started moving things to our new house. Our goal is to be moved in less than 6 days. I have no idea if that is actually possible, but we’re going to try.. Not only do we have all of our crap & furniture, but the house we’re getting is completely furnished too.

On a lighter note, I am now the proud owner of a CHI hair straightener. I tried out Todd’s sister’s on the trip & it was like putting on my first pair of Diesels or Sevens.. I knew that I could never go back.

i spent the afternoon in lovely springdale exploring dirty antique stores. came home with western shirts & many pairs of cowboy boots to sell. gotta keep a pair for myself though.

speakin of boots, last night cory branan played a jager inspired show at jr’s. the evening came to a close with roy berry playing snare-less drums & cory smashing his guitar in half. good times, good times.

sooo a copy of lucero’s attic tapes just sold on ebay for over $200 & i just happen to have the exact rare record. something leaves me uneasy about selling my vinyl. i have held onto every record that i’ve bought since i first nervously walked into midsouth lps & cds when i was 15… to sell or not to sell?

last but not least, my dad got married last weekend!

so it’s official. todd’s buying a house and we’re moving in less than a month. i’ve never been any good at packing. i get distracted by all the little drawers and boxes that i haven’t looked through in what seems like forever. last night it was my big cardboard box of old pictures that did me in.

first trip ever to fayetteville

out of gas, out of road

With yesterday all to myself and the beaming success of this week’s auctions, I was inspired to go off in search of more money making goodies. I spent almost an hour mapquesting different little towns around Fayetteville, only to leave the pages sitting right there in the printer tray. That was fine, I was exploring anyways. I tore through Berryville (home to my favorite store in the entire world), ventured over to Eureka Springs, and then had one last stop in good ole Green Forest.

On the drive home I pulled over at what looked like a yard sale. There was nothing around except a dilapidated trailer home, a couple of red barns (one with “Hill Billy Traders” painted on the side), and a heap of clothes hanging all around. I was the only person there till Hill Billy himself walked out of his doorless & broken window home. With no shirt on, his belly hanging over his cut off jean shorts, and a cigerette dangling from his lips, he insisted on showing me around his so called store. That was the point when I was sure that I would die. Little me, in the middle of no where Arkansas, with a guy that looked like he had murdered at least 3 people in his lifetime. It was too awkward to just run, so I browsed around for a few minutes. Hell, I ended up finding a really precious dress & yet another unicorn shirt. Three dollars later, I hurried to my car while constantly looking over my shoulder.

I did it. I survived the road trip by my lonesome, made it home with bags of vintage clothes & cowboy boots, and didn’t even get lost along the way.
