Rosemary Beach, Florida 2019

I feel like such a grown-up saying that we just went on our SIXTH annual trip to Rosemary Beach, Florida. I didn’t grow up going on the same family vacation year after year, so it feels extra special to be able to create these ongoing memories with Iris as a family. It almost feels like a piece of that place belongs to us.

Once again, we were lucky enough to have the Gundersons from Kansas City travel with us, along with some first-timers, the Hobbs who live in Boulder, Colorado. While we visit the same beach town every year, we’ve never stayed at the same house twice. I would be tempted to break that tradition though, because this was by far the best house we’ve stayed in. Not only was it huge (three stories!) with lots of room so we never felt crowded, but it was a one minute walk to the beach and our favorite pool.

Here are some photos from our trip to Rosemary Beach and surrounding towns… And you better believe we’ve already booked for next year. We ended up choosing a different house, but it’s right around the corner from our recent one and has its own private pool. There’s no bad spot in Rosemary, but it sure is fun trying to find the best.

Summer Ready!

I look forward to May every year… and finally it’s here! We’re about to embark on our sixth annual Rosemary Beach trip and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s one of those places you just fall in love with the very moment you arrive and we still experience that same feeling with each trip back. We’re renting a house that we’ve never stayed in before, so even though we visit the sleepy little beach town each year, we like the experience of staying in a different spot each time we return. Be sure to follow along my Instagram for updates on the road!

Rosemary Beach, FL 2018

Five years ago I began the search for our first beach trip as a family of three. I started out looking at Gulf Shores in Alabama, but realized if we drove just a little bit further (and paid just a little bit more), we could stay in this quaint little town called Rosemary Beach. Several friends had recommended spots along 30a, but it took going there to really understand what all the fuss was about

Fast forward five years and we just took our fifth annual trip to Rosemary Beach (see all of our posts here). So far, we’ve been during the month of May every year when it’s not unbearably hot or too humid, the crowds have yet to arrive, and the pricing is much more affordable. Since we go to the same beach every year, we like to select a different house to make each trip unique. Our first two vacations included only Todd, Iris, and myself so we rented cute little carriage houses, which were just perfect for our size family. The third year our pals Seth and Ashlee joined us (where they told us they were pregnant!) and the past two years, the Jones family hopped into the mix.

I am a serious vacation planner, so I start my beach house search early. As soon as our trip was over last year, I found the perfect spot for 2018: a house ON THE BEACH. That is almost unheard of in Rosemary and, if you do find one, it’s ridiculously priced. So yes, this year we totally lucked out. Being in our favorite beach town right there at the edge of the sand made for an easy breezy vacation. So knowing all of that, you shouldn’t be surprised that our beach house for 2019 is already booked! While not right on the water, we are just a one minute walk away from the sand in a lovely, three story home overlooking Rosemary’s playground.

But that trip is nearly a year away. So in the meantime, here are some of my favorite photos from this year’s stay (with a few adventures to Seaside and Alys Beach too!).

GIRLS’ SPA DAY: The Pearl – 30A

I’m back home from vacation, but still daydreaming about last week. For the second year in a row, my girlfriends and I treated ourselves to the spa at The Pearl Hotel during our annual trip to Rosemary Beach, Florida. Spending nearly a full week at the beach with a gaggle of children, we knew we wanted a scheduled break just for us ladies. Scratch that. We NEEDED it. The three of us did the same thing last year and it was HEAVEN. In fact, for two years in a row it was one of my most favorite parts of the trip.

Greeted with a glass of champagne upon arrival, we each enjoyed an 80 minute massage at Spa Pearl, which is located right next to one of the most Instagram-worthy pools I’ve ever seen. Afterwards, fully relaxed, we escaped the warm sunshine by sitting in a roof-top cabana, sipping on Frosé and pina coladas. Of course we needed the cheese plate too. Going to Rosemary Beach every year has become a tradition, and I think now a trip to The Pearl has too.

Special thanks to The Pearl! While I paid for my services, they did treat me to a special discount. Muah!

Packing my bags for the beach!
